Learning grammar can be fun

Most word nerds are probably familiar with the FreeRice project, a web game that allows users to brush up on their vocabulary and help the UN send rice to developing nations for every correct answer they give. The game works because it's fun, educational, and allows users to see their progress, as well as how much rice they are 'sending'. It's a wonderful game, in every respect.
I hadn't checked the FreeRice web site in a long time, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the site has more subjects now, including geography, math, and English grammar. I tried a few questions and was happy to see that they addressed some of the most common grammar mistakes, such as you're/your, comma splices, and I/me.
There's also the high school student-designed Grammar Ninja. I played a game to check it out and the content is rather basic, but it is fine for children or beginners. I guess I'm rather amused that a high school student actually wanted to design such a game! There may be hope after all for the young speakers and writers of the English language.
So, remember, the next time you're on your lunch break at the office and need something to kill some time, donate some rice!
